new user and old mapper

Hi my name is Russell and I am a new Xonotic user and look forward to making some maps for this game. It looks like a lot of fun and reminds me of how UT,UT2004 used to be sadly the scene for these is dying but the new UT looks great but its mapping system is way to complex and my poor old Mac Book Air cannot handle it's specs .

so my question is how hard is it to map for Xonotic as compared to UT2004 ?, I mean is the Editor about the same or is it more difficult to use ?.
