That is called urticaria, pretty harmless stuff, but yes, can tingle a lot. It is caused by the formic acid the nettles have in small needles (urtica hair) - hence the name of the genus too of the plants, Urtica.
It'll fade away usually in a few hours, or in severe cases days. If you want, you can use some ointments you can by in local pharmacies, like Fenistil gel (dimetinden-maleat).
If it gets really bad, be sure to see a dermatologist too.
