Hi there,

My name is Gerard.

Years ago i played by accident some game named Nexuiz on a lan with some friends.
Well most of you know how it goes.....wife,kids,family,work
No time at all to play some games anymore.

Then i got the idea and made a search to see if Nexuiz was still around.
It was a big surpise to see Xonotic !
So i downloaded the game , started it and without thinking i got online.
I only did tweak the mouse & movement keys,the screen was way to dark, and i didnt turn down the music also. but i wanted to play you know.
Well, i can tell you i got a beating of 17 to -1. (name was chubby or something , anyone know him?)
Didnt know the map at all
But it was such a big rush!

I really need to make some time for practice.
When the server changed maps my computer crashed to desktop with a ¨protection fault¨

Last few days Ive been reading all information i can find about gameplay. its a lot of stuff.

So here is my biggest question:
What is the best way to learn a map layout in the shortest time possible?

And the second one:
What are the things to notice first when entering a new map?

If i know that , i will make the biggest progress...............
I can draw some unreal tournament maps ive played 15 years ago without thinking,but those i played for hours & hours & hours.......
And only with some friends at that time on lan.
But i dont have the time i had back then to put in a game.

Ow and excuse me for some language errors.
English is not my native language.
You can talk Dutch to me without a problem if you master that.

I guess remembering a map comes with playing it a few times. You can try to run around the map alone.
Try to figure out the Mega Health and Mega Armor locations (the big ones that add 100). They respawn after 30 seconds.
Eventually the location of the proper weapons, Devastator or Vortex for the start.

How can i enable stats like you guys have below the forum messages?
So all can see the progress i make.

You can check "Multiplayer" -> "Player Profile". There are checkboxes to enable them and your stats show in the menu as well.

Hi and welcome! I guess from your initial post that you already found the Newbie Corner :o) I always find that I can figure out very basic layout of new maps by a dry run (alone), but to really get to know it, find different routes between items, discover good spots to set up traps and so on is only by actually playing it a couple of times - preferrably against someone of about equal skill.
