I have no crosshairs no matter what I try (macOS) - FIXED

Hi,


just installed Xonotic for the first time on my old INTEL MacBook. 
Runs great - everything is smooth I get good framerates.

But I have no crosshairs.

No matter what I configure - be it the GUI or the console … no crosshairs ... at all. None.

I am already not the best f it comes to "aiming" , but with no crosshairs its  ... well.


Anybody hints for me what may be the cause or where to look?

Have 0.8.6 on macOS 10.15.7

I may add, that I installed Xonotic on an even older MacBook Pro running Mojave. The game still runs really good, but also no Crosshairs.  The installed game was downloaded from another source ... so its not a problem with a damaged package.

Are there MacUsers out there WITH Crosshairs?

To my knowlege, none of the devs has access to a Mac. Do you get any error messages in the console (during startup or when loading a map)?

Error messages upon boot and mapload:
Failed to initate SDL Joystick subsystem
No CD Player

Well - no wonder. Nothing else as far as I can see.

Maybe I'll try to install older Versions to see if this is a "new" problem.

Installed xonotic-0.8.1. - also no crosshairs.

Is there anyone out there playing Xonotic on a mac - and has Crosshairs?

Hm. Next step on my side: Install it on an iMac I have.

I deleted "darkplaces_history.txt" in user/Library/Application Support /Xonotic which had this content

crosshair_ring_inner 1
crosshair_rings_vortex_inner_coloc_green 1
crosshair_ring_vortex_inner_color_green 1
crosshair_size 1
crosshair_hittest_showimpact 1
crosshair
crosshair 16
crosshair_size 0.4

Now the crosshairs works.
Also the file is freshly generated at next start of xonotic - but EMPTY.

Very strange, but I wont complain. At least I have crosshairs now.

Still works, this seemed to be a solution
