The Race Challenge - April

Time for the next challenge! and no it isnt an April Fool's joke.
The good thing is everyone is able to participate, no matter where you are, because you can do it locally.

This time its race again, but with 2 maps!

The first map is Powerslide. An old race map from Morphed.

The second map is Ovalrace. A short racetrack from Pinkrobot, which i retextured.

Goal: Complete the both maps as fast as possible! Each map counts individually. The laser is allowed.

Rules:
- default 0.1 physics only
- the fastest player has to make a demo or video to show off how he done it (so everyone gets a clue how to play that map)

What is "default physics" ?

The recent git ones, or 0.1.0 ?

I did 7:42 with GIT version on ovalrace. The other one I still need to practice a lot, but I'll try to participate in this one again.

Actually I find the powerslide map very very interesting and fun IF I wouldn't hit invisible bumps all the time that slow me down and hurt me a lot... is there any strategy to avoid that?

Edit: Temporary best time on powerslide: 2.00.58 o.O ouch ouch hurt myself a lot...

thats the reason why i dug it up. there where a plenty of good nexuiz maps for every gamemode

Sadly there is no real strategy to avoid that. the best way is use a combination of free fall , jumping, crouch jumping and dodging.

I hate it if you get stuck at a thing and after that you have to climb up.

BTW: On 0.1 prewiev speedlimit is 800
in GIT it was reduced to 700 only.
So which physics are we suppose to use, Cortez666?
700 as a speedlimit is not enough IMO

Powerslide would have been fun but for those bumps. Actually gave me the rollercoaster feeling at first.

O_o nice! I have 13:48 without laser (0.1 default physics).
On Powerslide I have less then 2 minutes, but its not ok, I can do it better. Nice rollercaster!

read the goals the laser is allowed! there will be one category per map

Edit: This record was done at April 2nd, now I'm using GIT version and all physics have changed. I can't play more races with physics 0.1 preview.

Im not sure how to make one. I tried using the in game recorder and it lagged the game to hell. Any ideas, i can reproduce the time pretty easy.

Choose Multiplayer in the menu. Then choose the demos submenu. As a last Step click in the box next to the "Recording demos while playing" writing. As long this option is enabled you record demos of everything you do in game.

on windows the demos will be saved in this path \Documents\My Games\xonotic\data\demos

I talked to Grunt and he is going to upload his demo.
