XDL - Season #5

Let's have a last big tournament for 2015!

We will sperate "higher skill" and "lower skill" again. (maybe "medium" as well)
If someone insists to play in "higher skill", he may participate there.
However I will figure out the exact modus (how it will be played out) once I roughly know the number of participants [eventually like XDL #4]

1. General

1.1 Group Stage

The players will be drawn into several groups (number TBA) and X players advance to a KO Stage.
All Group Stage games are played in Best of 3.

1.2 Playing

Group Stage
- Best of 3 (Bo3) (= 2 map wins needed)
- Heads/Tails->Cointoss + Pick-Pick-Drop-Drop-Drop-Drop -> If it ends 1:1 the remaining map is the decider. No draws possible.

KO Stage
- Best of 5 (Bo5) (= 3 map wins needed)
- Heads/Tails->Cointoss + Pick-Pick-Drop-Drop-Pick-Pick -> If it ends 2:2 the remaining map is the decider. No draws possible.

Grand Final
- Best of 7 (Bo7) (= 4 map wins needed)
- WB Winner picks a map he 'wins', LB winner picks 1st map. After that map loser will pick.


1.3 Duration

Start: 6th November 2015
Group Stage: 6th November 2015 until TBA 2015
KO Stage: TBA 2015 until TBA 2015

If a player does not play a match, he will lose it by default. If you have real trouble you should message me!

1.4 Demos
Admins can ask a player to give them their demos. If a player refuses to give them, a warn will be issued.

1.5 Registration
You can register from NOW until 6th November 2015 by a) posting here or b) messaging me (Mirio) somewhere!

2.1 How-to
Simple: Talk to your opponent (#xonotic.duel!) and play it on one of the official servers.

A match has to be played again if the players did not play it on one of these maps.

3.3 Forfeiting

You may forfeit during a match of course, without getting penalties.
Obviously the map or match will be lost.

1. What do cointoss/drop/pick mean? Do I need to worry about any of it?

2. I wonder whether we can have 3 groups: high, medium, and beginners.

1. You either choose "heads" or "tails" and vcall cointoss, to flip a coin basically. The winner (heads or tails) starts by picking the 1st map, the loser picks the 2nd map. Drop means, you remove maps you don't like until the remaining map is left as 3rd one.

2. Yes, I hope so but it depends who and how many sign up.

3. Servers aren't recording demos, so recording the games would make sense.

I noticed there aren't any US servers. I can re-purpose my server during that time, if there's the need.

On the server, all I need to do is to limit the active player to 2, and list only the competition maps, correct?

It's an EU tournament, so you don't have to change or setup your servers. Unless NA players meet up maybe. If that happens we can share the config.
