So how to enable 3 or 4 flags in CTF?

A map must supported it, if you're a mapper, it's quite easy... place item_flag_team3 & item_flag_team4 entities in the map (they won't be in the right click menu, so just place an item_flag_team1 entity and rename its classname).

Some maps supporting 3 and 4 team CTF include:

This includes 3 maps, one for deathmatch, another for regular CTF and a special one for 3 team CTF:

This one supports both 4 team CTF and the oneflag mode (you may need to enable it with g_ctf_oneflag 1 in console):

Note to everyone having issues on Windows after updating via the update-to-release.bat script:

Simply run the script again, and everything should be fine.

edit: How's the item timers? Do you see timers for any items picked or just the ones you picked? Also are they votable and possible to turn off in tournaments, or pickup servers?

Have you tried r_fullbright 1 (not r_fullbrights)? It has a similar effect as r_showsurface 3 but keeps items. Only thing is that it kills shadows which (for me) makes trick jumps harder because I already suck at them as is. You can control brightness with r_hdr_scenebrightness. Check the screenshot Smile

If you already have Xonotic, upgrade to the release with these steps:

- Navigate to your Xonotic installation folder.
- Navigate to the misc/tools/rsync-updater folder.
- Execute the update-to-release.sh (for Linux or Mac) or update-to-release.bat (for Windows) and wait for it to complete.
- Profit. You're done!

r_fullbright is supposed to make Xonotic render faster. According to the description "makes map very bright and renders faster" although I didn't notice a huge difference. I guess you'll have to convince the devs to enable simple items for r_showsurfaces 3 :p

Yeah, even if I'm new on Xonotic and I don't know its older versionsUndecided, this one seems really excellent (although I think it won't be the last one), no bugs, and good stuff. Congratulations Xonotic Team....
