[SUGGESTION] FOTM at Menu

In the menu there should be a videobrowser for some Xonotic Videos and Screenshots.
There should be a category for the FOTM, too!

I don't see why we should go through the trouble of integrating youtube with xonotic.

why use youtube? we could use any other video hoster!

So we will need to host videos in two places?

Or try to play html5 video from youtube :-P
Would be a great idea though, host elsewhere if youtube isn't an option.

A general text-only newsfeed, maybe... But no html, that has been discussed before and it would be too complicated and risky (need to release hotfixes every time there's a security breach discovered in the web engine... that's silly, a new game release because the non-essential web engine is broken)

And to have a FOTM-specific feed, you need to make sure FOTM continues regularly for years
A general community news feed could be a better option.

Lastly, how would you open a web browser window from a fullscreen game? Heh.
(and no video ingame, unless it's a mjpeg sort of thing, or it will need big engine changes with dpv, or even bigger engine changes and a new gpl-compatible codec such as vp8 or ogg)

there could be some thing like img.xonotic.org but vid.xonotic.org, where you could upload ogg videos!

But how will they be included into the game, when starting it? For some players with "low-speed internet" loading of the video will take more time...

The FOTMs should come from the community, may a special side where everyone can vote for one each month. The winner then uploads his FOTM some days before next month to a special side for that. (Maybe in .ogv ?)
This FOTM then gets included in any way into the game... ?!

I like the idea of showing infos in the start menu... if the new menu will be used, it shouldnt be into an own point of that, everyone should see news at one look!
