My hardware is Dell Latitude E5500 with native 1440x900 res. and Intel x4500 graphics, windows 7 and XP, 3GB RAM. OK, if this game is not intended to be played other than native resolution , then changing desktop resolution should work. I'm trying to run 1024x640 which gave me more than stable 125fps in QL with all fancy video effects off. And taking into account that player models are simple (in comparison to Warsow) game should work fine.

I'm downloading this modded version. thanks

update, game uses always native resolution

I'm afraid with the x4500 you may not be able to get particularly good performance. While the modern Sandy Bridge chipsets will give you that kind of performance for Xonotic, the x4500 will not. Look here for some comparisons on different hardware, you might also want to try this benchmark:

Xonotic, WILL run at any resolution that the graphics card supports. Whether your video driver will allow it to is another thing. Remember that Quake Live is not like Xonotic in terms of engine design. You could try switching to the alternative engine, Xonotic has both SDL and WGL engines and sometimes one will resolve hardware specific issues. Are you trying xonotic-sdl.exe?

Intel graphics hardware does have some strange resolution behaviour. Have you tried 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 or similar? Sometimes these resolutions are OK as some Intel chipsets do not support resolutions like 1024x640 correctly. This would show an Intel video BIOS/driver issue.

You can simply define new resolutions in Intel graphics properties and then it's available to any application you wish. You are right - if I wouldn't do it, I would have issues, but slightly different type. So I have defined 1024x640 (working nicely in QL for a long time) and even 768x480, giving ~40fps boost, but not in Xonotic, there I have only 1440x900 and what I've described before.

Looking up his laptop and going off this I'm pretty sure we have the same 4500MHD GPU, I am able to get 50+ fps in Xonotic at my native 1280x800 resolution with good/updated drivers under Linux. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a driver issue.
<[-z-]> have you seen the documentary "happy"?
<Samual_> no
<Samual_> it sounds horrible

50fps I consider fine, but the OP is looking for 125fps like he gets in Quake Live.

Perhaps another thing to do if you have not already done it, disable compositing for Xonotic:

Thanks guys for the support. I see the only option would be to lower the resolution which is not working properly. To be honest I'm seeing such a game for the first time.

1) Download http://xonotic-gaming.org/xonotic/XCP/XCPv1.cfg to your Xonotic/data
2) exec XCPv1.cfg
3) vid_restart
4) saveconfig yourconfig.cfg
5) try as well sdl as glx .exe files

What's the saveconfig yourconfig.cfg step for?
Reply

He asked how to save his config (= writeconfig cmd in quake live).

But that saves it to a place where it won't be used, unless it's explicitly exec'd. Might want to make that clear.

config.cfg is saved automatically, too. (I know you know that, asyy ;P)

Quote:I even can't write current config to file that I could explore myself...
-> quakelive: writeconfig myconfig.cfg
-> xonotic: saveconfig myconfig.cfg

I don't see what's the problem right now. Do I need to add random nonsense to my post to be accepted here?
Reply

I thought you were doing that already? Tongue

I guess this is handy when you are working on the console or menu's and want to save different configs with different setups for the game. I suppose that is where the confusion is with MrBougo, the game itself does not need to use it.

Sorry asyyy, I was not questioning you, I just wasn't fully aware of the context. My bad for rushing things.

My point was that saveconfig is hardly ever needed because it's always done when you quit the game (unless it crashes).

You can modify those files, but you can use those modified files in an game with people, who have the same modification.

Hey Xonotic devs and everyone else,

What is needed/required to justify the next release? Is there anything that we as players can contribute to get the word out about this awesome game? Is there anything we can contribute that is needed to step the release in the right direction. Also, unless I missed it, is there a roadmap available for this game up to 1.0 regarding features and goals?

I ayed the original nexuiz back in the early 2000's and recently found Xonotic... I've never looked back. I would like to help make this game even better (if thats actually possible) and if I can get a point in the right direction as to what's needed by the developers in terms of simple stuff so they can stay focused on the complicated "stuff", I would love to contribute. I am sure I speak for a lot of people in the same state of mind that love this game. I own the commercial Nexuiz, which I have uninstalled and I only play Xonotic now for my twitch fps. There is absolutely no comparison. Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing from y'all!

I don't really know what to say - but does it support first person arms and if so can it support them for various models?
