For some reason any weapon except for shotgun does not deal damage to monsters. Is it bug or misconfiguration?

I see potential in Invasion mode if it will get good maps and more cooperative elements, not just players vs monsters fighting in the box. Maybe add some walkthrough or defense of some object. And the most important thing: make players to help each other and value their resources and lives.

On miniman_invasion I can't jump from window ledge, it has invisible wall. Is it intended? No room to fight and no weapons.

Yah it was intentional so you can only move on the window ledge. It was actually only set up for using Minsta weapon.

Hey y’all. Old school Quake-er here who just picked up Xonotic after a little 15 year break…

I’m desperate for info on strafejumping in xon, because my current situation is driving me crazy. My old Quake instincts had me strafejumping totally fine on most xon servers immediately, but on a couple, notably all of the “[HUB] Duel” servers, I don’t seem to get any acceleration at all. (Do you realize how painful regular run speed is down a long hall?) I’ve been asking in game about it, but it seems like everyone else is strafejumping fine. Someone did mention something about duel servers (or duel mode?) using different physics, however. So what’s the deal? I really want to start practicing duel, but Quake without strafejump is frickin' unplayable! I really don’t want to learn new physics just for these servers, but I’ve also about had my fill of instagib CTF. So, what gives? Please help!

I'm not aware of Duel server settings that make strafe jumping harder / less efficient than vanilla settings. However, you can find out settings that vary from the vanilla settings if you open console and enter

I'm gonna have Mario make HUB servers have a voteable physics that you will enjoy more. Its a topic that has been discussed before because the movement in duel is kind of bland. Theres a strafe cap of 900 qus and you accelerate too easily by holding space. Smilescythes competitive xonotic promode physics makes it more like CTS in duels.

From now on you call type 'vcall phys_smiley' in console and it should be much more suited for you. Don't get too used it to though because its not part of the official version yet.

QuakeNet may allow Tor users ( https://www.quakenet.org/news/226-tor-users-on-quakenet ), but the #xonotic channel does not.
There's been some truly nasty trolls over the years, so a permanent ban of the service was a requirement.

con_textsize 9 (that's what I use). You'll need to restart game after changing it, otherwise things will look a little messed up.

Hello, and welcome. Absolutely, you can!

If you plan on running a server, look at the provided ./server/server.cfg as a starting point. 

Copy this file to to ~/.xonotic/data (Windows, use: C:\Users\yourusername\Saved Games\xonotic)

Modify (at minimum) the following suggested settings:

net_address 192.168.1.125  // use an IP on the LAN
sv_public 0                // set to private

This can be run with a run line such as:

./xonotic-dedicated +exec server.cfg

Clients can connect with:

connect 192.168.1.126  // or whatever the LAN IP is

Noooo, this is a common mistake, this will only give you something that looks like overkill but misses the physics, dodging, nades and other features. 0.8.2 finally includes a playable overkill config in defaultOverkill.cfg. Note however that currently this would also overwrite your client settings so you have 2 options:

a) comment out 'exec defaultXonotic.cfg' from the file before executing it

b) use 'exec defaultOverkill.cfg; exec config.cfg' - this will overwrite your client settings and immediately restore them (they only get saved to the file when exiting xonotic so the file still has them)

Also note that I didn't manage to get all my variables into the default config so you might wanna also exec the config that runs on WTWRP Overkiil.
