Testing platforms

#1
It might be useful for the developers to know on which platforms non-devs will be able to test the first Xonotic release. I can test on:
  • iMac 20" - Core2Duo 2.0 GHz, 4 GB RAM, Mobility Radeon 2400 HD, OS X 10.6.2 (10.6.3 with better OpenGL support and improved graphics drivers should be out soon)
  • Ideapad S12 - Atom N270 1.66 GHz, 2 GB RAM, Nvidia ION graphics chipset, Windows 7, Nvidia drivers version 197.13; screen resolution of 1280x800

This seems more like a bragging rights thread. With that said,

-Ubuntu/arch linux
-Windows 7 Professional

It wasn't intended to be a bragging rights thread. Rather to give the devs an idea what hardware/software combinations willing testers among the community have.

I understand, I was only joking. It is a good idea. =)

Will Xonotic Support older Windows operating systems? Like Windows 2000
I have some old clunkers I could use to test with.

#11
I'm sure it will. It should be just as flexible as Nexuiz was.

Mine is a fairly high-end setup so it would probably be useful for testing the bleeding-edge stuff.

CPU: AM2+ socket Deneb AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition 3.0GHZ
RAM: Dual Channel DDR2 1066MHZ
GPU: Sparkle NVIDIA Geforce 9800 GTX, 1GB, 256 bit
HDD: (low end component, salvaged from last PC) 320GB IDE Seagate Barracuda 7500 RPM
Sound: Integrated 7.1 support that sounds good with ALSA, I currently have a three-way 5.1 surround hooked up to it
OS: Linux Mint 64 Gloria

Core2Duo 3.6ghz
Fully Nvidia powered: gts250
4go DDR2
WinXP(32bits), Debian Sid(amd64), Kubuntu(amd64 at release of 10.04)

Server (if usefull to testing, may not be public...):
IBM (eserver I think, I'll edit soon)
4x PIV 2.8 HT
6go DDR
Ubuntu linux, server edition(32bits), (may change for debian or freebsd soon though...)
Custom kernel build

Edit: I got 2 crappy machines too... PIII 800/900mhz
One with: 512mo Ram,
Crappy radeon 7500
WinXP
The other one with: 384mo ram
Geforce 6200
Debian Sid

Those last 2 computers may not go on frequent testing, getting and maintaining the git on them would be a pain!
Thanks to the devs!
PM me if you need something... I'll be happy to help for any translation work needed...

Just wanted to add that in addition to the specs I posted, I will probably have something REALLY REALLY OLD SCHOOL floating around in the future since I plan on building a rig to play all my legacy stuff (MechWarrior 2 in particular) the way they were intended. I haven't built it yet, but this is what I'm aiming for:

OS: Windows 95
CPU: Intel Pentium II 350MHz
VGA: A pair of 3dfx Voodoo 2's, an AGP ATI 3D Rage Pro, and an S3 Virge
RAM: 32MB DIMM

I also have a Commodore 64 lying around, but I know damn well that it wouldn't be able to handle Quake, Nexuiz, or Xonotic so that's out of the question.

Xonotic up on my server, I'll be opening it if I can, experiencing problematic performance now, even on the local network...
Thanks to the devs!
