Yeah, the intro must be from another track
I also have some litte ideas to tune things up.
So this one will have a v. 05
Hopefully soon.
I might cut out the intro and just start with the bass. But I will try to substitute with somethin, maybe a bare drumloop or some noise... IDK.

Submission for my track X-Force, because a mapper wanted to use it already, I don't think I'll work furthermore on it then
Track name: X-Force (Click for SoundCloud preview)
OGG file: X-force.ogg
Source file: X-force.als
This track has been made with Ableton Live 8.0.1.
Drum samples are part of public soundfonts, and another part of them was made by myself.
All the other instruments are fully synthesized, mostly with the Analog synthesizer in Live.

Submission for my track Mental Conflict, it's finally finalized now :]
Some people said it could be really cool for the 0.7 menu theme, but that's just a suggestion, lets say it's best suited for that because it doesn't loop like most tracks.
Track name: Mental Conflict (Click for SoundCloud preview)
OGG file: Mental Conlict.ogg
Source file: MCv2.als
I'll just repeat what I said for my previous track, because the same applies to this one
This track has been made with Ableton Live 8.0.1.
Drum samples are once again part of public soundfonts, didn't create any new drum-sound effects for this though, rather altered the original ones a lot.
All the other instruments are fully synthesized (By me, custom settings), mostly with the Analog synthesizer in Live and a lot of effects, also some Operator synths.

Submission for my track Dark Horizon, it was finished for a long time, but I forgot to optimize some bits and pieces here and there, now it's done and ready for ingame usage.
This one is best suited for dark maps, think of graveyards, cemeteries, dark fortresses, or some modern ruins!
Track name: Dark Horizon (Click for SoundCloud preview)
OGG file: Dark Horizon.ogg
Source file: x4_8.als
I'll just repeat what I said for my previous tracks, because the same applies to this one:
This track has been made with Ableton Live 8.0.1.
Some of the drum samples are once again part of public soundfonts, but there's a great deal of home-sampled ones as well, mostly playing on the background (you can hear them somewhere in the intro).
All the other instruments are fully synthesized (By me, custom settings), entirely with the Analog synthesizer in Live and a lot of effects.
I hope it's good enough to be included somewhere in a map :]

Got two tracks ready for submission.
Erebus: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/51891186/Xonotic/Erebus.rar
Space Jumper (aka T1): https://dl.dropbox.com/u/51891186/Xonoti...Jumper.rar
These versions are newer than the ones on my SoundCloud.
Everything except for the samples is included..
Those you can find overhere: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/51891186/Xonoti...pleKit.rar
This is my standard home-made kit of samples, to prevent any legal problems
EDIT: What I meant was, I'll be using samples from that kit for any track I'll compose from now on, and I'll update it whenever I make new samples and stuff. Also used some of em for the tracks above.
Added some balance changes to the track Erebus, it should sound all fine and pleasant now.
Also licensed both tracks and the samples under GPLv3, so that should alright as well now

I know this is an old thread, but here is a track anyway:

This is potentially just a WIP, let me know if anything needs changing, or the style isn't what you're looking for.

Maybe reduce the presence of the kick a bit, especially notice-able during the filter sweep around 0:12 (try to filter down a notch @ 100-200hz via an equalizer and slightly lower total volume of the kick as well).
Also, try to add some extra ambiance to the track, around 0:42 for example, some pads would do nice there! Would really add to the variation, as the amount of instruments (and different melodies) right now is pretty limited
About the drums, they seem a bit too light for what you are trying to do, too much treble for the purpose, you might want to use a slightly heavier snare for example.
Finally, try to work on the stutter effects around 2:08 and further, they don't sound really good to me yet, with some more effort you could make it sound great, but also remember not to over-do it.
Anyhow, it sounds as if you got inspired by this track from tribes 2:
Check 0:21.
Just guessing, but it's a really nice soundtrack anyhow, and it might be quite an useful example.
That's all feedback I can give atm, hope it's useful.

Great feedback, thanks!
Interesting, I hadn't actually heard of that tribes 2 track before. I see what you mean though.
I've started work improving the track based on what you said. As well as changing drum samples, i'll play about with the spatial arrangement of the cymbals to try and release them out into the mix a bit more.
I should have the new version up on Saturday.

I have taken pretty much everything Archer said into account, although I have not added that much more ambience, personally I think the track sounds better in its simpler form. There is a lot more going on however.

Pretty cool stuff, definitely does a good job of 'remembering it's background music,' which is SO easy to forget. And definitely has the Xonotic sound. I can't put my finger on it but it feels like it wants aggression it's not getting somewhere, I know it's such a vague and useless comment but it's not anything specific like the drum patches or anything. It's something subtle that would give it just a little more adrenaline, it's nothing obvious like "LOUDER DRUMS" or "MAKE IT FASTER" lol. I should listen to it in-game, i think that's an essential step to evaluating anything for Xonotic is seeing how it plays, not what it sounds like on its own. Also, are you using Glitch? Those sound like familiar presets. Nice work man, haven't heard your music before (I don't think).
|
|
Yes, I was using glitch
I know what you mean, it has a sort of held back aggression to it. I wasn't really able to bring it out enough, but it seems to work in-game very well. I figure most people don't pay much attention to music in games like this, so as long as it sets the mood, it's fine.
Thanks for the kind words!

Ahhh yes, much much better, and the ambience is fine later in the track.
Also, the glitchy part sounds tons better, although there is one wrong in it (in my opinion), located at 2:18-2:19, it kind of seems to trip over itself.
But there's also a really great 'glitch', which is at 2:12-2:14, loved that one
I think the best improvement is the balance between the drums and the rest, sounds really pleasant now.
When I hear the track, I somehow think of the color green.. a green map with pools of acid, indoors, tight corridors.. Kinda like that green deathmatch map with tight corridors but I forgot the name (it had that shield powerup below a staircase).

My new track heavily influenced by drum'n'bass music (Pendulum's Hold Your Color album to be specific):
The Ogg file has tags for looping.
I think it might be nice for some frag movie if too complicated for gameplay background.
unfa - Not the end (.v 08)
~8MB / game compatible audio release
~10MB / customer preview release
~100KB / source file
PS:
Please stay on topic! If you want to say anthing about this submission, do it in another thread. Thanks

I've got two new submissions.
First comes is a d'n'b track "Blending":
http://unfamusic.com/5h1+/unfa-Xonotic-Blending.zip
Secondly I have an angry track titled "Frustartion" that is going to be on my upcoming album:
http://unfamusic.com/5h1+/unfa-Xonotic-Frustration.zip
The tracks are in Ogg (q5) and FLAC (16-bit) with LMMS (MMPZ) source file.
All audio files have loop_start and loop_end tags so will nicely repeat in Xonotic.
I'd love to get some feedback on them.

Nice one! I'd linked your post and commented in a different thread (to keep this one as clean as possible). Please read and reply here:

I dared to make a remix and I submit it too:

However the source file for the remix is the original track + the vocal sample I recorded for it:

Nice going Unfa. I really liked the drum and bass track. Reminded me of Rob Swire or Blue Stahli. Great job.
