[SUGGESTION] CTF/FT hybrid game mode

I'd like to see a CTF and FT hybrid game mode where players can freeze each other and unfreeze while trying to capture flags.

What if whole team is frozen? :O

I did play a lot round based CTF in a game called Soldat (round starts over when either team gets wiped or when you capture), and I gotta say it works quite well.



I'd be interesting to have freezetag features implemented in this setup, question is whether to have all weaps/stack CA style or traditional pickups.

Then score points on that and the next cap wins the match ?

maybe have players thaw out after maybe 20 seconds, so the whole team doesn't get frozen?

Or if all players are frozen un freeze a random player. Or maybe if someone is carrying a flag you can only frag them and they'll respawn and could unfreeze other players if the manage to. Not sure...

Or count it like 2 captures and EVERY player in the game gets unfrozen.

Interesting idea anyway.

I created a freeze mutator a while ago which freezes players on death & gives them the option to defrost where they died after 5-10 seconds, or re-spawn normally after default re-spawn delay.

The idea was rejected by the devs and ended up on my GitHub repository for abandoned mods.

problem could be that once a team is a player or two down, they are incapable of attacking or defending and they have almost no chance, unfreezing is predictable.

a loss could be insta unfreeze for your team
flag carrier could insta unfreeze teammates for better balance

also, what about keyhunt-CTF? 3 team CTF? double domination? sniff

Relying on teammates to unfreeze you would fail in CTF (especially if you're not one of the important teammates), everyone is too busy capturing the flag.
