Vore Tournament (game forked from Nexuiz)

People just don't understand this stuff. You're obviously involved in some kind of community centered around "this", you developed a mentality around it, found it to be quite normal in your life and now it can be shocking how people react to it.

Not trying to say this stuff makes sense to me, but if you dressed the characters in latex and gimp masks then it probably would.

Your comment is part of another problem I see frequently: When someone finds weirder art like this, they conclude it's something the artist is obsessed about or centers their life around. I think that's far from the truth even for people who can be considered "basement dwellers", which itself isn't my case (although I spend more time online than having a RL). For example, I like FPS games like Xonotic, but that doesn't mean it's what I do all day long for my entire life. Why would it be different for something like making vore art?

I guess people tend to amplify what they aren't familiar with to extreme levels at times. Which probably explains why so many trolls and people react violently for no obvious reason. On one side I find it funny and weird, but it's also sad that it leads to misconceptions and even flame wars in some cases.

Well said. I think life requires weirdness for the sake of diversity - imho without weirdness life would be bland and boring instead of colorful and interesting. As long as no one gets hurt in the process, I see no reason why to object to weirdness.

If you get sick by images of shaved foxes with tits attached to them expressing the desire to eat other foxes, but at the same time you don't get sick by images of humans getting shot, tortured, raped, torn apart and/or bleeding to death (something you see in estimated 60 % of movies), then I'd be interested in the argumentation chain you might be able to bring up for justifying your objection to the cannibal foxes with tits.

Well said also. Anyway, my point was primarily this, as a random example: If someone makes a CGI film of themselves getting shot by robots, people will say "Wow, this is really cool and the guy did an awesome job, I wish there were more animators like this". But if someone makes a film about themselves getting eaten by an anthropomorphic fox, people will say "OMG, this guy must be mentally ill... he probably faps all day in a basement and will become a murderer or rapist later, he should die".

Personally, I see little difference between the two themes as any others... with the exception the vore thing is usually considered of sexual nature. Yet on one side, people just notice you created something and focus on what they liked or disliked about it, while in the second case they conclude there must be something dark and sick behind its creation and obsess entirely over that. To go even further, there are people who make extreme horror movies as well as (god forbid) porn stars, who are never considered weird in the slightest. This is something I've yet to fully comprehend really Undecided

I did not say your life centers around it, or try to imply you're wrong in the head. Just saying it must be have a little portion of your life on hold since you went as far as created a game of it. One does not simply create a game out of something they don't enjoy just to impress people. I know where you're at, I'm a gore artist myself and people can't seem to make the distinction between murder and drawing the murder, between dead people being entertaining and joke about dead people being entertaining.

Also, you both need to admit that gore and violence in media is rather normal, everyone understands the context of gore and quite a huge portion of the 'everyone' either vaguely tolerates it or even admires it. Whereas this vore thing.. or naked cannibal foxes thing is only normal in it's respectful subculture in some small corner of the internet. There's a huge difference there. You can lie to yourself all you want, but I'd rather you make a peace with this fact.

I did spend a lot of work on the game. Liking the subject enough to program a game about it is also true and obvious. But once again, it's no different than liking anything one can think of enough to put the given amount of work into it.

And yes, most things which art is made about is a common thing in the media, whereas this is a smaller matter mostly only seen online. But doing something a little creepy from a corner of the internet still doesn't explain the amount of extreme reactions some people seem to have (on like Youtube).

Whoah guys. I wasn't offended :-). And I certainly didn't intend to start a debate on the 'who is wierder' subject. Let's just say it was my wierd way of saying that I don't like the game and my psychiatrist said that i should express my feelings more. Overall, you like vore, you like gore and I like sarcasm. Am I considered a troll now since I changed the subject of the thread with my stupid post?

Ah... it's ok. And unless it was with the intent of being mean or starting drama (which I don't see), it's not trolling, so don't worry. But yeah, better focus on the project here... when I'll have the time and energy to work more on it that is.

Does anyone know how to change the background for the menu and after game screens? I would like to because I find them slightly disturbing. Does anyone have any clue how?

I think I added a cvar to disable intermission backgrounds. Try opening the console and typing "apropos intermission".

I know you might have been asked this a lot but I have to know; could you explain how to make a multiplayer server on the newest 7.0 update? I've tried numerous methods like using the aryion forums and using the other game Nexuiz as an idea; using the info on how to make a server for Nexuiz and applying it to VT but so far no luck with any of the methods. I truly love this game of yours; everything runs so well and the gameplay flows really smoothly even online on the other 2 dedicated servers (apart from the fact when running the RP server, the server says it can't find voretemple.cfg so me and my friends can't play on it) much appreciated if you reply and if not, any reply would do

Several people kept asking about the Vore Tournament project on occasion. As you know, the game hasn't been in development for several years. But as I recently stated, plans to continue it do exist! Today I decided to make an announcement in this regard, currently in select places only.

Long story short, VT is being transformed into a mod for Xonotic. This decision was mostly taken because frankly, it's the only way for the project to still advance! The old engine and code base are extremely outdated, whereas Xonotic is moving forward at an amazing speed. There's no way I could manually back-port every change in mainstream Xonotic to Vore Tournament, even if I dedicated every minute of my awake time to the cause... whereas this way I can maintain the VT code separately in a few files, and compile it on top of the base Xonotic code. The second advantage is that players will be able to enjoy VT on any Xonotic map, use all Xonotic weapons in addition to the vore mechanics, and even any Xonotic player model (as prey only since they don't have gullet models or bulged-belly versions).

From a technical perspective: The focus is currently on porting the base mechanics to the mutator system. This has already been partly done, and included as two separate mutators (one for the vore mechanics, one for micro / macro scaling). At the moment only the absolute basics were ported, so don't expect this to be playable yet! You can eat players (hold a button to make them become attached to you), spit them out (detach), preform stomach kicks, etc. Model management is next on the list, followed by HUD components, bot AI, and possibly a re-implementation of the grabber later on.

The code can be found in the Gitlab repository below. If anyone with coding skills wants to make any changes or corrections, feel free to submit them as a pull request and I will analyze them! We will see where this goes.

Probably an input problem? In any case, I haven't been developing or playing the old VT for ages now. You should check out the new one, which runs on top of Xonotic instead: https://gitlab.com/voretournament/

With legacy versions of SDL, you need to open the console before you can move the mouse again with the game minimized.
The default key is ~ (tilde/backtick) or SHIFT+ESCAPE.
