It is, because that way I'd easier point out some stuff for you, already providing sources.
Also, you're still missing clips.

and breathing is also important, and including sources in an "open" >SOURCE< project is ... what?

i think there are more important problems them a CUSTOM map without a map source

i dont like the spirit you seem to have
(see this one sentence without a dot at the end and which is not really helpful? this is the kind of sentences you write. i dont like this too. instead of "its not required" you could say why you actually don't provide the sources. or, instead of arguing, you just could provide them.)
+1 for good maps, -1 to maps without sources, even if they are good. custom or not, it's about the spirit of open source, as strahlemann said.

check his latest map and you will see his argument is invalid.
I'm around for years now and suddenly people start to complain "there is no map source. now me sad". No one said anything after the release of the first versions, but why now?
Generally in the past no one cared about a map source.

technically speaking, since the map seem to be based of nexuiz darkzone you would proly need the provide the source when asked since all of nexuiz was released as gpl. the more interesting question is: why do you seem to be against sharing the source?
|
|
Because for some reason, our dear Cortez666 thinks it's not worthy to be included as an official map. Releasing it's sources would mean we can include it, which he doesn't want. It's nothing about not being "open".
However, it is badass, I'd give my half arm to be so creative at details as he is.
Also Cortez666, it is not true, that nobody gave a shit about the first posts. Iirc I've talked to you, and even provided screenshots.

Actually I consider TechAssault to be your first official map, given how much you polished it to get it release-worthy :-)
Personally I think any map kickass enough should be a contender for official inclusion. Talking about Darkzone, as the original author who released the sources under the terms of the GPL I'd really appreciate if you could release the sources. Not so much because I'm trying to pull a "you have to, it's GPL" thing on you, but because so many kickass maps have lost their sources over the years, and I'd really regret your version of Darkzone getting lost.

It's not needed to include a source in it, I don't even know what that is. If the map is playable without, who cares?
I just say: Nice job my dear Cortez, awesome map!
But you can also see it as a great honor, my dear Cortez, that they want your map to be an official one. Maybe you should just include that source, if you can make people even more happy that way

Is it possible to use this map with Nexuiz?
If not, is there any tool to convert it to the correct format?

Err... Darkzone is a default map in nexuiz, so there is no need to port it.

The maps here are made for Xonotic, not for Nexuiz.
Developing Nexuiz is not what we want

BTW, there is this error with the map which I noticed earlier in my server console... Not sure what it's from precisely, but:

Can you look into it and try and fix it please? thanks.
|
|
It seems like it´s caused by a func_rotating. "InitMovingBrushTrigger: no brushes found!" could mean that you didn´t have a brush in the func entity, only a model or something like that. Just create an additional nodraw-brush to solve this.
|
|
I get this every time I try to delete a warpzone... I think perhaps it deletes the brush coordinates but not the entity entirely... the solution I was given was to open the .map with a text editor and manually delete the entity. Worked fine for deleting my troublesome warpzones.
|
|
i guess its cause by 2 player clips

Why should clip brushes cause this error? It definitely says that an entity is the problem.
